Whitewater Rafting Event - Troop 26

white water rafting in PennsylvaniaDates: May 9 (Fri) to May 10(Sat)
... get back in time for Mother's Day!

This whitewater rafting event is like no other!  Be prepared to get wet!  The weekend is set up for scouts - they have music, exhibits, information and its a real nice atmosphere.  Saturday around 9am we will embark on our 6 hour trip - returning around 3pm for hot showers and snacks.  We will probably leave Saturday evening around 5pm getting home around 8pm Saturday night.  We always have a great time on this event - families welcome!  (age 10+ for whitewater)

** Friday Night 5/9 6pm - there were 3 spots... call cell phone below and if there is still room, you can drive up Saturday morning and still make the trip!! ***

Emergency Cell Phone Numbers:
Phil Gruender: 609-980-4392 and George Finan 609-460-9849

Leave: Medford Methodist - Friday May 9th around 5pm
Return:
Around 8pm Saturday May 10th
Adult Coordinators:
Bill Dreisbach, Phil Gruender, George Finan
Where:
"Whitewater Challengers"  http://www.wcrafting.com/

Directions: Map & directions here

Costs: $60 including food and whitewater fee Saturday ($55 if not camping Saturday night).  Does not include 'extras' like wetsuit  or water glove/boot rentals if required (depends on temperature that day).

Schedule:  Monies must be received by April 28th!! (if you want to go...) Checks to "Troop 26 BSA" or cash in US Currency only please!  (If you are REALLY a 'last minute' person, then go ahead and call Whitewater Challengers, ask to be added to the 'William Dreisbach May 10th' trip, and give them a visa or mastercard to get included... good luck! 1-800-443-8554)

Other Info: You probably want to shower after the trip - nice free hot showers available. - Based on past experience, do NOT take anything that will break if it gets wet like a car door remote opener which costs about $35 to replace (voice of experience here). Prepare to get soaked. - Depending on how cold it is, you may want to rent booties and/or vests, gloves. The booties and gloves are nice but I've found the vest is nice for the first 1/2 hour or so, then its too hot even on cooler days. I forget the prices, but this may be advisable. Also that vest always seems tight around the waist... hmmmm.
