MS-150
September 25, 2005

A quick note about our day in Waterford volunteering for the MS-150. First I’ll give you a briefing of the job. The first task was to unload a semi-trailer parked about 50 feet from the work area. In it are pallets of snack bars, water, juice, bananas and oranges. All needed to be handed out of the trailer and carried to the refreshment tent. The five of us were joined by seven other volunteers before the riders start to arrive. Once the initial supply was unloaded the cases of bars needed to be unpacked (see photos) the fruit was cut and put in trays. The cases of water are opened and set on tables for riders to easily use to pour into their water bottles. There were cases of an energy drink that needed to be opened and set out on tables.  By the time everything was setup the riders started coming and we switched to replenishing supplies as they diminished.

Your kids were great!! Besides keeping everything supplied they took on trash duty. Meaning they had to keep ahead of the orange and banana peel box before it got to heavy to lift over the top of the dumpster.

This has been our forth year doing this and the event staff told me they really appreciate and need our help. They were short 10 volunteers’ on Sunday but the day went smooth regardless.

I received compliments and thank you’s from MS staff and the other volunteers’ working with us on your boy’s work ethic and behavior. For that I can only thank you and you now know some of what you’re missing.

Proudly thanking you again,

Ed Martino
