Health Concerns:

Paul's wife doing well.  Sam's done driving.  Susan Bishop Jones - not doing well.

Treasurer's Report

Seabase $4800 - after $6620, $3150 Seabase = net $3400

Sold $1500 popcorn, owe $1000 to council = net $500

Free $2500 balance after all. This is normally our 'low point' for the year.

$150 council account, $250 prepaid for pine tree, $500 deposit at Yawgoog (but renewed every year)

$100 coast guard, Beach Jam about the same

Dues letter with re-chartering

Note: dues not changed for awhile.  Should cover badges and emblems, fundraising for equipment.  Council raised.  $30/year for a long time.  Perhaps $50 more reasonable.  Includes boys life.

Other troops - collect monthly.

Teri - some packs charge $50 - 439 Tabernacle charges $50 (annual)

Boys $22 each - charter.  About 30 will charter.  $900 total

Adults always been $10 council fee.

Vote: unanimous - $50 for the fee.

Equipment

We are ok basically.  Have another stand for dutch oven and paid for it.

Dickens Festival

Locking up Cranberry hall at 5pm Friday.  Pete there at noon.  Culture hall open - want us to serve hot chocolate.  We have 5 boys and Dave, Ed, Pete = 8.

5pm until 10pm.

Rechartering Process

Dave Costello reviewed the list with the committee.  Total scouts = 32

Reviewed the adult list, dropped about 10, added 3: Total adults = 34

(Still outnumber the boys!)

Adult Leadership Changes

Ed Martino - thinks its time to change Scoutmaster position, get new parents involved.  Think Paul O. would be good for this position.  Good rapport with scouts.  Bob Gray seconded this - great choice for SM.  Pete commended Ed for the excellent job that he has done.  Many eagle scouts and high adventure activities under Ed's tenure.

Paul had unanimous vote for Scoutmaster.

Pete Detmering - ready to step down as committee chair.  Nobody to nominate, nobody stepped up yet.  See if we can find a replacement.

Phil Gruender - 10 years in the position.  Would like to find somebody to fill in.  Will discuss with Cheryl Morgan and others.

Dave Costello - advancement chair - ok with this.

Bob Gray - Assistant SM - serves under pleasure of SM.

Hugh Streep - thinly stressed now, wouldn't do justice.  Can do more w/o position actually.

Mike Bradley - could handle assistant scoutmaster.  Did great job at Yawgoog.

Ed Martino could be assistant SM.

Woody fine to be CM, but open to taking another role.

Ed M., Mike Bradley - recommendation for Asst. SM

Bill D. fine to continue as secretary / webmaster.

Missing Rosters from Prior Events

Dave C. handed out events that need rosters, so boys can get 'credit' for attending the events.  Some rosters were available.

ACTION:  Please get others to Dave.

Note:  Nice article today on Chris Beans Eagle project!

New Scout Recruitment

Concern about existing packs sending boys to Troop 26.  One from Pack 26 - one boy.  Dave has one (his son), and another one from another Troop 26 parent.

Cheryl Morgan was going to head up recruitment - but doesn't have time now.

Nick Lipnitz - now SPL so can't do from the boy's perspective.

Den Chief training - didn't happen at council.  There were mixups.  Was supposed to happen in open weekend, but it didn't happen.  Flyers didn't go out.  It was in small print in calendar - nobody came.  Have not yet rescheduled.  Will meet next week for next year.  One year some boys went to the training.

Idea:  Get Matt who went thru it - is a leadership position - re-identify boys who would be interested, and have Matt 'train the trainer'.

Traci has the materials - but most important thing is working with the den leader.  If that charisma happens then he can do it.  Tracy can bring syllabus for us to review.

Pack 26 meets after school.  Time must be conducive to the boys to help.  Meet at Allen school and at different times.  Bear or Wolf den best, not Weblos.

Pack 48, 108, 300.  Pack 300 at Haines.  Pack 48 has 1 first year Weblos.

Recruiting outside of cub packs - 5th grade now.  Crossover Feb-Mar with packs.  Some schools allow adult/scout talk to the boys.

Open house at EMS - recruitment night - etc.  Let boys run it.  Victor, Beans, Matt, Kyle, others - let them take responsibility.  9 boys can do it - lets charge them!  Get flyer, etc for open house.

Sign should be made - "Troop 26 Meets Here Monday 7pm"

Upcoming Events Update

Pine Tree

Older boys want to cook, need adult.  Bob Gray can't do it.

Den from 300 interested, but no confirmation (Ed).  Go out Friday, set up.  Retire 4-5 flags.  Dinner 6pm and Court of Honor Sat.  Need accurate head count.  Cost is $15.

Al Harris FOS - told 'first weekend Dec' - oops - 6pm.

Suggest Julian and Frisca as adults to oversee boys.
