Scouts, Parents and Leaders:         (updated info)

A great opportunity exists for Medford Troop 26 to enjoy Skiing in Vermont in late February.  Troop 26 is interested in participating in the “We Ski Vermont” program sponsored by the GREEN MOUNTAIN COUNCIL, BSA.   The trip is scheduled for the weekend of February 24th – 26tth.  Our reservation form and payments must be received by the Green Mountain Council no later than February 17thPlease mark your calendars and be prepared to act fast to sign up and make payments for the trip.  Here are the details:

Location of ResortOkemo Mountain - Located in the heart of the Green Mountains, the resort offers snow covered slopes to keep you busy all day. Choose from all different levels of slopes-from beginner to expert-and pray that you know how to stop when you finally reach the bottom.

Accommodations:  Sleeping arrangements are in a local high school. Don’t forget your sleeping bag and pads. Hot dinners and breakfasts are prepared by Scouting volunteers. Bag lunches are available for purchase. Planning hint:  Bring plenty of padding with you.  Scouts are encouraged to bring air mattresses or pads. Also, most Vermont schools still use the "gang" showers. We recommend you bring sandals and swim suits for bathing and a baggie for storing wet items for the trip home.

Payment Information:  Total cost depends on the plan selected, whether you’re renting skis or a snowboard, and whether you’ll want a Saturday AM lesson Typical cost for the average scout is $215 (package plus 2-day snowboard rental) or $255 (add a Saturday lesson).  Checks should be made payable to “BSA Troop 26”.

Logistics:  We will drive up to Vermont on Friday afternoon, leaving as early as possible. The specific departure time will be announced prior to the 24th Parent volunteers are needed to drive.  We will return Sunday evening.  Due to the length of the drive, prepare for a long weekend and a fairly late arrival Sunday evening.    A detailed information packet with directions and arrival procedures will be provided after our reservations are made.
