Dec 4 - email Letter
from
Chris Gehringer
DEC 4, 1997 - Dear
Friends of Yawgoog Web Site:
Over the last few months many great and exciting
things have been happening: * Oct 29, Narragansett Council recognized the
Yawgoog Site and adopted it as the official site for Camp Yawgoog *
Nov 6, we added the complete 1997 Leader's Manual to the web site * Nov
14, added an update to the Yawgoog Heritage Museum to be built for the Summer
'99 (with layout drawings!) The site is becoming very well known.
Currently we have 244 e-mails on the mailing list and 242 guestbook entries!
Guestbook entries come in from all over everyday -- from current and former
staff members, scoutmasters and scouts, to other troop leaders and parents. It
is really great to read what everyone has to say! Stop by sometime tocheck it
out. (http://users.ids.net/yawgoog/guestbook/)
Congratulations to you, because the visits to the site have been achieved
through YOUR help. We really appreciate all the help each one of you has given
in helping promote the site. Just recently, the Yawgoog Alumni Association
(http://users.ids.net/yawgoog/alumni/) has published an article about the web
site in its Newsletter and the Narragansett Council has published the Yawgoog
web address in its Newsletter and in an eight-page brochure about summer camp at
Yawgoog that will be sent to over 8,000 scouts in the Rhode Island area. This
exposure will be sure to bring many, many more visitors to the site.
What's Planned -- Over the next few months, we have planned for the site:
* A Virtual Tour of Yawgoog taking the visitor to all major sites: * Knights of
Yawgoog, Yawgoog Alumni Association, and Staff * An update to the Leader's
Manual to be ready for 1998 is also planned for the spring. * Also, someday, we
hope to have yawgoog.org and yawgoog.com (domain names) for the web site. This
will enable visitors to navigate
to the Yawgoog web site with greater ease. We are having some difficulty
locating a host for the site with reasonable prices for domain name host, so if
anyone has any ideas, please e-mail us at Yawgoog@HoTMaiL.com
