Info: Okemo Ski Trip Greetings! I’m supplementing your paper confirmation letter with an e-mail to give you the most up to date stuff. I am still trying desperately to secure the use of the Ludlow Armory and will do so up until the last possible moment. If we cannot use it however (due to the events of Sept. 11), we will be at the Springfield High School.OKEMO SKI MADNESS CONFIRMATION LETTER Dear Ski Weekend leader, On behalf of the Okemo Mountain Ski Resort and the Green Mountain Council, BSA, we’d like to welcome you to the Ski Weekend in Vermont, February 1-3, 2002. Your first stop Friday will be at the Springfield High School where you will check-in and register from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Please call me if you plan on arriving later than that. You’ll be assigned a sleeping area and given a schedule for the weekend. Women will sleep in a separate room with separate facilities. Please remember that you and your boys will be sleeping on a gym floor. (Bring plenty of padding.) Dinner on Friday begins at 7 p.m. and is available until 9 p.m. All meals are served cafeteria style. Please let us know of any dietary needs. (All pizza, all the time is not a dietary need). What to bring (besides the obvious): Padding (we can’t fluff up the floor) Medical forms Tour Permit Insurance information Copy of weekend registration Unit check book Emergency contact numbers Emergency Numbers: Okemo Group Sales: 802.228.4041 (day) Springfield High School: 802.885.8482 National Guard Armory: 802.228.4311 (if we can use it) Springfield Hospital: 802.885.2151 Ludlow Police Department: 802.228.4411 Tony’s Cell Phone: 802.380.3243 Directions: From Interstate 91: Take I-91 north to exit 7. Bear right at the fork in the ramp. Follow Route 11 west into the center of town. At the second blinking light, take a sharp left onto South Street. Follow this for about 0.5 miles until you see the High School on the right. Park in the parking lot and go in the main entrance. A listing of local Church services will be available. We ask for your help in helping maintain a good relationship with the Springfield High School and Okemo Mountain Resort so we can continue to run this fine program. Please know where your Scouts are at all times. You are responsible for your Scouts’ behavior. At the time of sending out this letter, I am trying to gain the usage of the Ludlow Armory for the weekend. It is much closer to the ski resort and we’ve used it in the past. However, since the tragic events of Sept. 11, the Vermont National Guard has been stricter in its usage. If it turns out that we can indeed use the Armory, I will personally contact each of you with directions, phone numbers, etc. Thank you for understanding. If you should have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 802.457.4817 or by e-mail at youngvogl@hotmail.com. Sincerely, Tony Vogl Southern Vermont Skimeister |
