"Old Guard" Questions Attendance...

  • Dateline March 1, 2003 - "OLD GUARD" questions current leadership attendance at recent troop event.

    • The Klondike Derby was a perfect event - the weather was great, there was snow on the ground, the boys were having a great time.  But there was dissention among the adult ranks.  Missing from the event from Troop 26 were 2 prominent members of the current leadership, who profess to always be in the 'right', or as they are referred to behind their backs as the "Right Guard".

    • "Something stinks about all this" said Bill when questioned about the notable absences.  "Something really smells with this 'Right Guard'".  This group of individuals who will go unmentioned, profess to talk about attendance and uniform of the 'Old Guard' membership, but both Pete and Ed (whose last names at least will go unmentioned) were not even at the event!"

    • "I guess they figure this troop is on autopilot mode - they check in now and then to do the seagull act (fly around, make a lot of noise and crap on everyone), then leave it to us guys to keep the troop alive" said Bill who was in uniform and was at the event and who asked not to be quoted.

    • Mr. Martino (whose first name will go unmentioned) was unavailable for comment at his Florida vacation paradise resort.  "You know without Ed, we were totally leaderless this weekend if you don't count the other 12-14 adults who were present" said Bill.  Standing by were a few young boys, shivering in the snow as they were told their leader was working on his tan in Florida.

    • Mr. Pete Detmering (whose middle initial will go unmentioned) was not available for comment either, but a message from his cell phone said "I'll be back Sunday around 12:30..." - enough said!

    • "This whole thing smells" said Bob, as he finished cooking lunch while providing ample patrol eating opportunities.  After a few hearty helpings of beans for lunch, Bill repeated all afternoon to anyone who would listen.
